It provides information about the legal, ethical and organizational aspects of medical practice in Quebec. If you haven’t participated in an ALDO-Québec information session, you won’t receive your permit to practice.

On Friday and Saturday, November 17 and 18, 2017, the FMSQ will be holding the 10th edition of its Interdisciplinary Education Day (JFI). Exceptionally, the event will be held over two days, at Montreal’s Palais des congrès convention centre, and in several simulation centres.

As part of the campaign to raise awareness of bullying and intimidation in postgraduate education sites, the FMRQ has developed several tools. The latest of these is a brochure entitled Intimidation: recognizing, reporting and eliminating it, presenting the procedure in the event of bullying, and the resources you can call on. This past Friday, May 12, 2017, the FMRQ held its yearly Symposium on PREMs in Family Medicine, at Hotel Bonaventure Montreal. Participants attended a presentation by the FMRQ’s family medicine co-ordinator, Geneviève Coiteux, on the procedure for obtaining a position. The presentation was followed by cocktails, when participants met with regional department of general medicine (DRMG) representatives from different regions of Quebec. Aside from the meeting with DRMGs, this Symposium was a chance for R1s in Family Medicine to learn about PREMs and management rules for physician resources in family medicine, and to take advantage of the coming months to prepare for the 2018 PREM application period, which starts October 15, 2017.

On May 12, 2017, as part of the FMRQ’s Symposium on Managing Stress and Preventing Burnout, Sonia Lupien, a speaker deeply involved in the transfer of scientific knowledge to the general public, will be dispelling some myths about the popular definition of stress, and presenting an overview of the scientific discoveries of the past 30 years in the field of Psychoneuroendocrinology, which studies the mechanisms and effects of stress on physical and mental health. She will also be showing us ways of controlling the stress response through cognitive restructuring and the parasympathetic system so as to better integrate the different, scientifically validated methods that have shown their ability to diminish the stress response and, by extension, the potentially negative impact of stress on physical and mental health.

On May 12, 2017, the FMRQ will be holding, as part of Medical Resident Day, a Symposium on Managing stress and Preventing Burnout to identify lasting solutions to be implemented into your workplace that will help you manage stress and prevent burnout.
The Symposium will be held at Bonaventure Montréal Hotel, 900, de la Gauchetière West Street, Montréal. It opens at 9:30. Lunch will be served, and cocktails will follow the symposium.
All medical residents are released from their clinical activities to attend the event with no financial or academic penalty (75%). Call duty service must, however, be provided.

The FMRQ’s Outside Quebec Career Day which took place yesterday at Mount-Royal Center in Montreal was, once again, a success
