The FMRQ at the parliamentary commission on the broadening of the nurse practitioners’ role : yes, but with a more comprehensive framework

The broadening of the nurse practitioner’s role could improve access to healthcare. However, we believe that this extended role must be more circumscribed, that the training should be adapted to their new responsibilities and that a certification exam on their knowledge and skills is necessary. This is what the FMRQ emphasized at the November 12 parliamentary commission in Quebec City studying Bill 43 amending the Nurses’ Act and other legislative provisions to improve access to health services.
